I started my A Moment to Spit (AMTS) rhyme series as a way to reignite my passion for writing, thinking, and rhyming. Itās been a while since I committed to a project like this, so itās been refreshing to get back into form with something that feels purposeful and aligned with who I am as an artist. (Check out the current playlist)
The first drop kicked off on July 11, 2024, featuring a beat by my man FreshKilz, a dope producer and live beat composer I met while on tour in France. We crossed paths, exchanged energy, and that connection stuck. It only made sense to start the series with someone whose sound resonates with my creative spirit.
Since then, Iāve kept the weekly drops going. Every Thursday at 11:11 AM, a new rhyme hits the timeline, and A Moment to Spit continues to evolve with each release. Iāll be honestāit takes a lot of time, energy, and execution to make this happen consistently. The process is layered: writing the verses, recording the audio, and shooting the visuals. There's a lot of work behind the scenes, but I love the craft, and that's what keeps me going.
Iāve been pushing myself to stay ahead of schedule, but itās not always easy. While most of my other social media content is scheduled out about five months in advance (thanks to Metricoolācheck out more about that in my previous blog posts), my AMTS series is a bit more demanding. Right now, Iām typically about 4-5 weeks ahead with the verses and visuals, but I'm constantly working to keep the momentum going. Itās a learning process, and Iām grateful for it.
Here are a few things the AMTS series has solidified for me so far:
1. New Ears and New Eyes: One of the best things about this series is that itās allowing people whoāve never heard of me to not only hear my music, but also read my thoughts. Itās one thing to vibe with a track, but seeing the words on the screen adds another layer to the experience. Iāve always believed in the power of words, and this series is giving me a chance to express that in a new way.
2. Uplifting Producers: Iāve been working with producers from all over the worldāFrance, Japan, Canada, the UK, and more. Many of them are underground creatives with incredible talent but not as much exposure as they deserve. My hope is that through this series, more listeners will tap into their catalogs and check out their latest works. It's about building bridges and making those connections.
3. Rebuilding My Confidence: After dropping my album with Chinch 33 through Krekpek Records back in January 2022, I took a bit of a break from rhyming. Life, family, and business responsibilities took precedence, and my creative energy shifted to other areas. But A Moment to Spit has been a way to rebuild my confidence in rhyming. The more I write and release, the more I remember why I fell in love with this art form in the first place.
4. Prepping for the Stage: One of my long-term goals with this series is to build my stamina for live performances. Iāve been away from the stage for a little while, but Iām gearing up to hit the road again in summer 2025 (prayerfully!). When that time comes, I want to be in top form, mentally and physically, to deliver the best experience for the audience. This series is a part of that training process.
Looking to the Future of AMTS
While the series started as a solo journey, Iāve been thinking about opening it up to other artists in the future. The goal would be to collaborate with emcees and producers who are willing to contribute their best work to the A Moment to Spit platform.
Whether itās underground producers people havenāt heard of yet or established names who are down to build, I want AMTS to be a space that bridges creative energy in new ways. Who knowsāmaybe some of these collaborations will lead to singles or full projects in the future. Thereās no limit to where this could go.
Ultimately, A Moment to Spit is about taking a moment to appreciate the art of the written word in the form of rhyming, emceeing, orāas my cousin and I call itāM Dāing (Microphone Deities). Itās about celebrating the craft and keeping the culture alive through words, music, and creativity.
Whatās Next?
As I continue this journey, Iām constantly on the lookout for new producers to collaborate with. If you know of any dope beatmakers out thereāwhether theyāre from your city or across the globeāplease send them my way. Iāve been fortunate to connect with some incredible talent on Instagram, but Iām always open to hearing more.

This blogging thing is still a work in progress for me, but Iām enjoying the process. Iām learning to show myself grace as I go, knowing that progress is being made, even if it doesnāt always feel like it.
