This past weekend reminded me of something I’ve been meditating on a lot lately: the importance of showing up for the good people in your life.
I had the honor of spending a beautiful afternoon with my long-time friends, Baba J and his queen Tasha—two spirits I’ve known and respected for over 30+ years. There’s something powerful about friendships that stretch across decades. Time has a way of shaping people, but some things remain unchanged—like their generosity, sincerity, and quiet strength.
I reached out to them recently because I wanted to give a gift to their newborn son, Ausar. Not for a holiday. Not for a birthday. Just because.
Because sometimes the people who constantly give—who offer kindness, love, and service without asking for anything in return—deserve to be poured into too.
💡 Lesson I’m learning more deeply: take care of the good ones. They’re rare. And in a world where negativity is amplified, we often miss the small, sacred offerings of people who bring light into our lives daily.
So, to get back into my creative rhythm and honor their presence in my life, I decided to do what I do best—document love. I offered them a family photo shoot, a few flicks to celebrate this new chapter, and a chance to blend my artistry with their story. I also wanted to explore how their family could help bring to life a few new ideas I’ve been crafting for V2Gmultimedia.
As always, pulling up to their home felt like peace. Laughter, warmth, and respect flowed effortlessly, just like it always has. And then came Ausar—4 to 5 months old, radiant and regal even in his baby-sized body. His presence is very matter-of-factly!
Now, let’s pause and reflect on this name:
Ausar, the ancient Kemetian (Egyptian) name for Osiris, god of the afterlife, resurrection, fertility, and eternal cycles.
To carry the name Ausar is no small thing—it is a declaration of legacy, of sacred power, of wisdom and transformation. It speaks to death, yes, but more so the rebirth and restoration that comes after. Ausar represents the divine rhythm of life, the balance between the seen and unseen, between what is lost and what returns stronger.
So when I say this shoot was special, I mean it. It was more than just snapping a few images. It was about capturing ancestral energy in the now. And though young Ausar wasn’t too excited about the shoot (he let me know with a few well-timed cries and faces😅), I asked him for his energetic permission. And to my surprise, he gave us a few golden moments—enough to witness his presence, his spirit, his becoming.
🌀📸 Stay tuned for some of the shots and creative visuals we’re working on inspired by this powerful day. And remember: show love to the good people while you can. Honor the quiet givers. Celebrate life while it’s here.
