We live in a time where everything feels divided. Our education. Our communities. Our languages. Even our histories, our water, and the very air we breathe seem fragmented. The past and the future feel like separate lands with no bridge connecting them. I felt this divide deeply, and for years I wrestled with whether I should step away from the loop we call life—not to escape it, but to realign with it.
What I craved wasn't a vacation. Vacations are for relaxing, for being catered to, for soaking up ease. What I needed was a rebirth—a spiritual reset that called me to reconnect, not with luxury, but with legacy. I didn’t dislike my life. I love my family. I take great pride in being a public servant, teaching children from my hometown of Passaic, New Jersey. I stand tall in that. But I had been feeling a shift. Something was pulling me to be elsewhere—mentally, spiritually, and physically. That elsewhere turned out to be Kemet, what many know today as Egypt.
I didn’t plan for this. One ordinary day, while sitting in my attic office working, processing, and listening to the spirit—as I often do at V2G—I had a clear vision. I saw myself walking through the Temple of Edfu, a place I had barely studied. Heru (Horus) called to me. I didn’t know why or what it would mean, but I knew it was time. Shortly after, a conversation with my brother UNASOLAVIDA sparked a discussion about visiting Kemet in 2027. It aligned with a cosmic event he wanted to witness and document. We even started a WhatsApp group to plan for the future. But then another opening came sooner.
A dear friend, Baba J, invited me to a sacred circle held by Robyn Ringgold. During that call, the opportunity for a March 2025 tour of Kemet surfaced. I hadn’t planned on this, but my spirit wouldn’t let me sleep on it. I crunched numbers. I fought through the fears. I listed every reason not to go. But the message was clear: You must go now. This is your moment. I said yes. I locked in my slot. I booked the flight. And that’s when everything began to shift.
This isn’t just a travel vlog. This isn’t just a reflection. This is an unfolding. What you're about to witness through this blog series is a multidimensional, multimedia study of my journey to Kemet, and what it has meant for me as a human, teacher, emcee, student of life, and spiritual being.
I had no idea how powerful this moment would be until it all aligned: I was teaching my 6th and 7th graders units on Ancient Kemet (Egypt) and Jesus the Christ—literally weeks before I boarded the plane. It felt like my classroom curriculum had come to life. Not just for the kids, but for me. I became a living artifact, a primary source of insight, and that changed the way I approached the trip entirely.
This journey was not about escape. It was about encounter. I documented moments from my room—raw, unfiltered thought processing. I wasn’t there to produce content. I was there to experience, reflect, and be transformed. But of course, being who I am, I knew this story had to be shared. So here I am, offering not just videos and blogs, but references, historical connections, emotional reflections, spiritual impressions, and links to resources for those who want to go deeper.
The goal of this series is to bridge the gap—between past and present, between continents, between the sacred and the day-to-day. Think of this as a living archive. I want you to watch the videos, read the words, click the links, explore the places I mention, and ask questions. Ask yourself questions. We are building a study, a conversation, and a connection that I hope grows well beyond this blog.
I don’t know where this will lead. But I know it started with a calling, followed by trust. That trust opened the gates to Kemet. And now, I invite you to walk through them with me. Whether you're here for the history, the healing, the Hip-Hop, or the hope—you are welcome.More to come. Stay tuned.
