Rising Ancestral Spirit, Heritage, And Dedication, Supremely Uplifting Nationhood
Every letter in a name has the potential to symbolize power, purpose, and concept. When we take the time to explore the depths of each letter, we uncover a richer, more enriched world that carries a profound energy. This realization has led me to dedicate the acronym mentioned above to the late great Rashad Sun, also known as Rayvon Lydal Wilson, who graced us with his presence from January 11, 1971, until October 30, 2022.
As Father's Day approaches, my thoughts turn to my brother's family—his wife, his children, his friends, and his fans. I reflect on all the things he would have shared with everyone, the jokes he would have made, the music he would have played, and the conversations we would have had. There is much to contemplate. The truth remains that our brother may be gone, but he will never be forgotten. It is not solely because of my words here but rather due to the essence, energy, and eternal presence of his Sun that shall never be extinguished.
Rashad Sun: A Symbol of Authenticity and Inspiration
I never had the opportunity to discuss with Rashad why he chose his name, but its significance seems self-evident. Anyone fortunate enough to have interacted with him would understand what he represented. The principles attributed to him in the acronym merely scratch the surface of his true character and qualities.
I looked up to Rashad as a brother. He embodied success, intelligence, wit, dedication, reliability, trustworthiness, reserve, forthrightness, openness, pleasantness, composure, distinction, sophistication, creativity, family orientation, financial stability, elegance, good manners, ambition, sincerity, and radiance. Yet, these qualities fail to fully define the magnitude of who he truly was, how he was perceived by others, and the blessings I, as his friend, witnessed. These attributes are but a glimpse into why I deeply respected him as my elder in both rhyme and life. He commanded and deserved such reverence through his grace and poise. Even when circumstances demanded him to 'come out of character' and stand up to defend his beliefs, he remained authentically himself. I admired that.
Finding the Words to Honor and Uplift
For months, I struggled to gather my thoughts, feeling that any words I expressed would fall short of the grandeur required to honor my brother and elevate his legacy. His wife approached me, asking for something to share with their sons in their father's honor. I sat in contemplation for three days, seeking inspiration. Then, this morning, I heard his voice in my mind, saying, "Bruh, just speak from the heart. Everything you do and say is dope, so it won't matter what others think. If it authentically comes from you, I'll appreciate it, because I appreciate you and your genuine nature! Word is bond!" These words resonated within me, compelling me to offer my brother his flowers through this blog post, with the hope that it will hold meaning for those who read it.
A Father's Legacy: Meaning, Ethics, and Inspiration
To Rashad's progeny, your father was a man who embodied meaning and ethics, constantly striving to improve his own value. Despite any imperfections we all possess, he refused to let them hinder his spirit. He exemplified what we all aspire to become when we return to the Creator. His magnetic presence touched the lives of those around him. His friends and fans will continue to honor him, playing his music and sharing his stories, as he left an indelible impact. He helped people grow and overcome challenges, inspiring them to be better versions of themselves. Rashad captivated others through not only his thoughts but also his actions. He always considered the well-being of others while consistently working on self-improvement. A person who can sincerely look you in the eyes and say, "I love you," deserves the utmost respect. I loved him as a brother, as a black man who stood up for his family, as a creative artist who inspired me and provided insights into personal development and growth. I loved him as a source of infinite potentiality.
Before he departed, I made sure to express my admiration to Rashad, and he reciprocated those feelings. I consider myself blessed to have been graced by the radiance of your father's presence. Know that he continues to shine down upon all of you, his legacy forever vibrant and enduring. May the Creator bestow upon you light, blessings, good health, and prosperity as you carry his torch forward. As the God Rashad Sun would always say, I humbly and sincerely say P.E.A.C.E. (POSITIVE ENERGY ACTIVATES CONSTANT ELEVATION).
In commemorating Rashad Sun's remarkable life and the legacy he left behind, we are reminded of the power of authenticity, inspiration, and love. Through the acronym that represents his name, we uncover a profound world of meaning and purpose. As we celebrate Father's Day, let us honor all fathers and father figures who have made a lasting impact on our lives. May we draw strength from their examples and strive to carry their legacies forward, inspiring others and spreading positive energy in our journey toward constant elevation.
